FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions

You've probably got questions before you book.
Good. That's exactly how it should be.

Here's everything patients actually ask me, about what I treat, how consults work, and what it's really like to work together.

Getting Started

What kinds of things can you help with?

Sleep struggles, skin concerns, low immunity, digestive issues, mood and behaviour, energy that never quite bounces back. Across metabolic health, gut health, and nervous system health, for both kids and adults.

Not sure if it's a fit? Book a free Discovery Call. It's a short, no-pressure chat about what's going on for you (or your child), and how my approach could help.

What's your availability like?

In-clinic consults run Mondays and Thursdays at Whittlesea Health & Wellness.

Telehealth runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Australia-wide.

Click Book a Consult to see current availability and choose a time that works for you.

What's the difference between a single consult and a care package?

A single consult is a one-off appointment, useful if you've got a specific question or just want a check-in. A care package bundles consults, testing and support together over a set timeframe (3, 6 or 9 months), built for anyone wanting a real plan rather than a one-off fix.

If you're dealing with something layered or long-running, a package is usually the better value and the better outcome. Take a look at the Packages page, or reach out and I'll help you figure out which fits.

Your Consult

Should I get bloods done before seeing you?

If your GP has already given you a referral, get these done before your consult and email me the results beforehand. It means we can dig into the analysis together, rather than spending the appointment waiting on results.

Got bloods from the last 12 months? Send those through too. Seeing changes over time tells us more than a single snapshot ever could.

Haven't had bloods done? No stress. Testing is central to how I work, so this can simply become part of your treatment plan.

Do kids need to come to their consults?

Not necessarily. If it's easier for your child to stay home or play in another room, we can still gather what we need by talking with you.

Some parents bring their child for the first part of the consult, then take them for a walk or adventure while we finish up. That way I still get to properly assess your child, without asking a small human to sit through a full consult.

Can I bring my kids to my own consult?

Of course. Family life doesn't pause for appointments. Bring your child along, or have them nearby for a telehealth session.

Just let me know ahead of time if you're bringing a little one in person, I'll have the toy box and colouring ready to go.

What testing do you actually use?

Depends what we're investigating. Common ones include the Microba Explorer Gut Microbiome test, Metabolic Balance Testing, and blood work (either through your GP or as part of your plan with me).

Testing means we're working from real data about what's actually going on in your body, not guessing based on symptoms alone. It's the difference between a plan built for you, and a plan built for "people like you."

Treatment Approach

Do I have to take herbs? They taste awful.

Herbal medicine is one option, not the only one. Depending on what suits you, your plan might include nutritional supplements, lifestyle changes, or dietary shifts instead (or as well).

Worth knowing: most patients find herbs far more manageable after two or three days, partly because the taste becomes familiar, and partly because they start feeling the benefit.

Are you one of those "woo woo" practitioners?

No. Evidence-based, testing-led, and built to fit real family life, that's the whole approach.

I'll always talk through your treatment options with you first. If something doesn't sit right, tell me and we'll adjust. If you've been curious about trying something specific, tell me that too. Your plan should feel like something we built together, not something handed to you.

Do you work alongside my GP, or instead of them?

Alongside, always. I'm not here to replace your GP, and I'll never ask you to choose between medication and natural options.

What I do is add the testing, time and personalised plan that a standard GP appointment often doesn't have room for. If you're on medication, seeing a specialist, or mid-treatment for something, I work with that, not around it.

Cost & Logistics

I'm on a tight budget. Can I still get support?

Yes. We can build a plan around what you've got to work with, and there's always something worth doing to move you forward. Afterpay is available on packages too, if that helps spread the cost.

How long until I see results?

Depends on your health picture, what we're addressing, and how consistently we can put the plan into action. Some people notice a shift within weeks. Others need more time. Either way, we walk it together, and adjust as we go.

What's your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Life happens, so just let me know as early as you can if you need to move or cancel an appointment. Full terms are on the Policies page, but the short version is: reasonable notice keeps things easy for both of us.

Do you offer Medicare or private health fund rebates?

Naturopathy isn't covered under Medicare. Some private health funds do offer a naturopathy rebate though, so it's worth checking directly with your fund to see what you're entitled to.

Claiming is currently a manual process. I'll provide an invoice with the item codes listed, and you submit that to your fund yourself. HICAPS is on the way, but there's no firm date yet, so for now it's the DIY route.
